CMA

WHAT IS CMA?

A CMA is a “globally recognized, advanced-level credential appropriate for accountants and financial professionals in business. Achieving the CMA demonstrates your professional expertise in financial planning, analysis, control, decision support, and professional ethics,” according to the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the association that offers the certification. The CMA certification is granted by a US institution called the Institute of Management Accountant, or the IMA. In order to take the exam and maintain active status of the CMA title, you must first sign up as a member Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is an accounting or finance specialist. CMAs work in the areas of financial planning, analysis, and management decision making. Many accountants, auditors and financial analysts earn the CMA designation to advance in their careers. The CMA credential has specific education and work experience requirements. You must also earn a passing score on the CMA certification exam.

There are 3 stages in ICWA course i.e.,

CMA Foundation,

CMA Intermediate

CMA Final.

If you want to become Cost management accountant, you should complete these three stages of CMA course. Students who have passed 10+2 are eligible for the CMA Foundation exam. The Institute of Cost Accountants of India conducts CMA Foundation exam two times in a year in the months of June and December. If you have passed CMA Foundation exam, then you are eligible for CMA Inter. If you have any graduate degree, you are exempted from ICMAI Foundation exams. You can directly enter into CMA Inter CMA Course Subjects | Foundation Inter and Final | ICMAI 2018

Total 20 papers in CMA Foundation, Inter, and Final exam.

What Are the Requirements to Become a CMA?

  • Membership in IMA®.
  • Bachelor’s degreefrom an accredited college or university or an equivalent degree as determined by an independent evaluation agency.
  • Two continuous years of professional experiencein management accounting or financial management.
  • Entrance into the CMA program.
  • Completion of Part 1 and Part 2 of the CMA exam

CMA Foundation

Eligibility criteria for CMA Foundation

  • A candidate should have passed Class 10 or equivalent from a recognized Board or Institution.
  • Passed Senior Secondary Examination under 10+2 scheme of a recognized Board or an Examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto or has passed National Diploma in Commerce Examination held by the All India Council for Technical Education or any State Board of Technical Education under the authority of the said All India Council, or the Diploma in Rural Service Examination conducted by the National Council of Higher Education.

Documents to be enclosed with application form:

  • Attested Copy of Matriculation Certificate
  • Attested copy of 10+2 Certificate or Marks Statement
  • 3(Three) Passport size photographs – (One pasted on application form, one pasted on identity card and one to be attached with application)

(Attestation should be by any member of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India /The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India/ The Institute of Company Secretaries of India/Parliament/State Legislative Assembly or a Gazetted Officer or a Principal of a college)

When to apply:

Admission to foundation course for the ICAI course is open throughout the year However, Students desirous to appear for June Term Examination should apply before 31st January of that year and for December Term Examination should apply before 31st July of that year.

CMA Intermediate

Eligibility criteria for CMA Intermediate

  • A candidate should have passed Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 )and Foundation Course of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
  • Graduation in any discipline other than Fine Arts.
  • Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination of CAT of the Institute.
  • Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination and Competency Level Part II Examination of CAT of the Institute.
  • Passed Foundation of ICSI/Intermediate of ICAI by whatever name called along with 10+2
  • Documents to be enclosed with application form:
  • Attested Copy of Matriculation Certificate
  • Attested copy of 10+2 Certificate or Marks Statement
  • Attested copy of the degree
  • 3(Three) Passport size photographs – (One pasted on application form, one pasted on identity card and one to be attached with application

(Note: Joining the IMA membership does NOT automatically kick off the CMA exam process. In order to do that, you need to enroll in the CMA program. Many candidates join the membership and CMA program together (i.e. Step 6 and 7 together), but it is not mandatory.)
